Wiley Spiers Obituary

Wiley Stephens Spiers, 67 of Carriere, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1955 in Picayune, the son of Oakley Andrew and Sylvia (Pittman) Spiers, and called Pearl River county home for the majority of his life. Known as "Rocky" by those closest to him, he became a funeral director and spent his career in the funeral industry. Over the years, Rocky worked for several local services, including Riemann, Moore, Picayune, Trinity and others, but spent the majority of his time with Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia as managing director, before his retirement a few years ago. There is no telling how many families Rocky served through the years, nor how many funeral service employees he had a direct impact upon in their careers. He is remembered as a simple and modest man that loved to talk. Rocky had a baritone voice that once you heard it, was easily recognisable. He was a mason and member of the Carriere Masonic Lodge #455 and for some reason, seemed to like Ford Mustangs. Rocky loved to laugh and joke around, though you may not have known that side of him. He loved his family and made sure he had a cup of coffee with his mother every morning while she was here. His wit and humor will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Oakley and Sylvia Spiers, and his daughter, Angela Spiers. Left to cherish his memories are: his four sons, Jacob, Andrew, Blake, and Rocky Spiers; and his sister, Serita Spiers. Rocky leaves a legacy of four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with numerous extended family members, friends, and co-workers through the years. After so many years in the funeral business, Rocky was very specific about the details of his services. He had everything set up well in advance so his family would not have to be concerned with it. At his request, a simple graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday morning, April 27th in the McNeill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his mother. The Carriere Masonic Lodge will administer his masonic rites and Rev. Wayne Flurry will officiate. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Spiers Family and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during these challenging times.
