Thomas Guy Whipple Sr.

Thomas Guy “Whip” Whipple Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on March 23rd, 2021 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Julia “Jill” Whipple for 46 years and proud father of Sonja Whipple Guthrie and her husband Allen, Justin Whipple and his wife Crystal, and Jeremy Whipple Sr.; grandfather of Sarah Whipple, Jeremy Whipple Jr., Lanie Guthrie, Jace Whipple, Brianna Whipple, and Allen Guthrie Jr. He also had children from a previous marriage, Tresia Whipple, Dale Whipple, Thomas Whipple Jr, and Jamie Whipple Gonzales and her husband Andy. Also included are 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Jim Schooley; his brothers and sisters in law, Doug and Karen Whipple and Dennis and Cheryl Whipple. He is preceded in death by his father, Dewey Albert Whipple and mother, Ruth McKean Whipple. Tom was born in Tooele, Utah and was a resident of Harvey, LA before moving to Carriere, MS in 2004. He was retired from Chevron Chemical in Belle Chasse, LA in 1998. He also worked for Home Depot (386) in Slidell, LA for 13 years. Tom loved to work in his garage making rockers and swings for family and friends and made many other woodwork projects during the years. He loved to tell stories from his past and always had a joke to tell. We want to give a special thank you to Mississippi Home Care and Notre Dame Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion showed to us. Also, our wonderful neighbors who have been there for us. There will be a memorial Service on April 17th, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located on 1720 Read Rd., Picayune, MS at 10:00 AM. His remains will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Canal Blvd NOLA at a later date.
