Susan Marie Tiesel, 72 of Gulfport, passed away Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport. She was born April 8, 1949 in Ottawa, IL, one of four children to William Charles and Helen Maxine (Salmon) Clapper. Susan grew up in Ottawa and attended Ottawa Township High School, graduating with the Class of 1967. From there she continued her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, spending many years at different facilities while working in the health care industry. Later in life Susan became a mixologist and tended bar in New Orleans. Susan kept her circle small, but enjoyed the company of those close to her heart. She was outspoken with a sarcastic sense of humor and a unique personality. Susan enjoyed reading true crime novels and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy, but her all time favorite activities were cheating at scrabble and enjoying a good white russian. She will be forever loved and dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to be included in that circle of hers. Susan was preceded by her parents, William Charles and Helen Clapper, and her brother James. Left to cherish her memories are: her only daughter, Samantha (Raymond) Matula, with her sister Victoria, brother Kenneth and close friend, Quita. She leaves a legacy of three grandchildren: Savannah Tiesel, Junior Gallier and Treznor Matula. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Tiesel family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
