Sandra Jean Jordan, 74, passed away August 28, 2023, at her home in Steep Hollow, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 22, 1948, in Poplarville, the oldest of five children to William Troy and Mary Helen (Reagan) Buckalew. Sandra grew up outside Poplarville on the family farm where she enjoyed the animals, gardening, flowers, and drawing. Being the oldest, Sandra was always helpful to her parents in caring for her younger siblings. She attended Poplarville schools and decided to get married at 16. The young couple made their home in the Necaise Crossing community for a while. They lived in Gautier for a few years before returning home to Necaise Crossing. Sandra spent her life taking care of the family home and her family. She loved her gardens and flowers, but her passion was her kids and grandchildren. They were always at her home whenever she could get them, and absolutely nothing made her happier. She was an accomplished cook, making some of the best biscuits around, along with dumplings, brown gravy, and lots more. A loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. Sandra was preceded by her parents, Troy Buckalew and Helen Lightell, and her son James Jordan, Jr. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of over 58 years, James Jordan; their children: daughters Barbara Miller of Gulfport, Sonya Jordan and Carol (Bobby) Nestle, both of Poplarville, and her son Jacob (Kayla) Jordan of Picayune; her siblings: Linda (Mike) Paige, Debbie (Don) Smith, Tammy (Daryl) Varnado, and Danny (Dara) Buckalew. She leaves a legacy eight grandchildren: Claire (Andre) Burrough, John-Taylor, Brandon, Cody, Trey, Collin, Conner, and Wyatt, with two great-grands: Peyton and Addi-Claire, along with numerous extended family and friends. Services will be held Wednesday, August 30th at Steep Hollow Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00, with Pastor Gary Killen and Bro. Ryan Swilley officiating. Following the service, Sandra will be laid to rest in the Necaise Crossing Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Jordan family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
