Sandra Hagerman Obituary

Sandra Francis Hagerman, 72 of the Hillsdale community, passed away at her home Sunday morning. She was born May 19, 1948 in Hattiesburg, the middle of three children of Colbert Ray and Mildred Doris (Shows) Lott, and this was just the beginning of quite the adventurous life. Sandra grew up in the Dixie community with her grandmother for the most part. From an early age, she had a care-free approach to most everything, but was the type that could do most anything when she set her mind to it. And when she did, she did! At just 15, Sandra decided to get married and struck out on her own. After her academic pursuits were completed, she joined the US Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam era. She was by every account, a woman of many talents and held various jobs in her lifetime. She has driven trucks, served as a corrections officer, a waitress, mixologist and even a nurse. But on top of all that, she was also a self-taught chiropractic therapist, helping no telling how many friends and family through the years...and she was quite good at it. She could do almost anything. Moving around quite a bit over the years, she has lived in most every Southern state and a few Northern ones as well. Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, California and more, just to name a few. When it came time to move, she was known to rotate through her kids, asking them to blindly pick a spot on the map, and no matter where, off they went. Sandra is remembered as having a huge heart, willing and eager to help anyone, so long as they did it her way. There were many that benefitted from her heart down through the years. She was stern and firm in her approach, even with her children. With everything else she could do, cooking topped the list. Wherever she went, she could easily pick up tips and new dishes to prepare, with all of them being delicious. Italian, Mexican, Cajun and so much more, she could cook anything at all. There isn't enough room on the page to tell her full story. Sandra will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her husband, George David Hagerman; a daughter, Frankie De'Lynn Balch; granddaughters April Walker, Sarah and Sandalynn Lott; and her sisters, Glenda Overton and Doris Jean Haupt. Left to cherish her memories are her children: Johnny (Diane) Simpkins, Elizabeth Zukas (Marvin Simpson), Stacey Adamek, Aaron (Selena) Lott, and Adam (Sarah) Alexander. She leaves a legacy of twenty-three grandchildren, five great-grands, and untold numbers of extended family and friends, scattered from coast to coast. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 24th, beginning at 6:00 PM, at Caney Baptist Church in the Baxterville area. Everyone who knew and loved her is invited to come remember Sandra.
