Sandra Susan (Stevenson) Barnett

Sandra Susan Barnett, 79 of the Baxterville community, passed away January 29th in Gulfport. She born April 12, 1942, one of six children to Milton and Emma Stevenson. Sandra was born and grew up in Ohio, moving to South Mississippi in the 80s. She started out in Columbia, then to Baxterville where she has been for more than 20 years. Sandra enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and her animals, but not necessarily in that order! She was a quiet and reserved person who enjoyed reading V.C. Anders, plus watching Bonanza and Wheel of Fortune while she was knitting. Sandra is remembered as a friendly and welcoming woman who adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and yes, she loved her cats as well. She didn't get out that much, but when she did, a trip to the Chinese restaurant was always in order! She will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. Sandra was preceded by her parents, Milton and Emma Stevenson, her sons Scott and Johnny Straw, and her siblings, Milton, Virginia, Betty, Mildred, and Shirley. Left to cherish her memories are: her daughter Tracie Jones, and the pride of her life, her five grandchildren: Kodey and Johnny Straw, Keith and Karen Jones, and one great-grand, Kayden Straw. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
