Ruby Mae Jackson, 99 and originally of McHenry, departed this life and entrusted her spirit to the Lord November 24, 2022 from her home in Moss Point. She was born March 28, 1923 in McHenry, the daughter and one of seven children to Lon L. and Emily Catherine (Flurry) Parker. Ruby grew up a country girl in McHenry, playing with her siblings and helping around the house as the family endured the very tough times of the Great Depression, which had a life-long impact on everyone. She married Reuben Jackson and eventually moved to Moss Point where he worked at the paper mill. Ruby was a born-again Christian, faithful servant of God, and charter member of Kreole Avenue Baptist Church, where she loved to learn, worship, and teach children about the love of God. She definitely focused her primary attention on their home and children, but also invested quality time in the many business ventures she maintained with her husband. Sewing, gardening, going to church, and making memories with her family and friends were among her favorite things to do. She is fondly remembered as a gracious and fun-loving lady that embraced every challenge in life as if it were a gift. Ruby was always willing to help her friends, family, or anyone in need because that's just who she was. Her sweet smile, warm hugs, wisdom, and passion for life make for great memories that will be cherished by all that knew and loved her. Ruby was preceded by her parents, Lon and Emily Parker, along with her brothers Demont, Sr., Mavis, Travis "Buck", and Clem Parker, with her sisters Florine Beall, and Cuppie Smith; her loving husband Reuben Jackson and her two children, son Wayne Jackson and daughter Cynthia P. Upton. Left to cherish her memories are: granddaughters Jennifer (Michael) Dickson of Moss Point and Crystal Upton of Pascagoula, one grandson, James (Brandi) Upton of Lucedale, and her son-in-law, David Upton, also of Pascagoula. Ruby leaves a legacy of six great-grands: Kassy (Louis) Walker, Emily Dickson, Evangelina Forshee, Lynda, Jayme and Ryann Upton, two great-great-grands: Holden and Marciline Walker, along with countless beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services are set for Tuesday, Nov. 29th at Kreole Av. Baptist Church in Moss Point, where Ruby served for many years. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at noon, with Pastor Ralph Smith officiating. Afterward, Ruby will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery in McHenry. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Jackson family in their time of need, and asks everyone to remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
