Ronald Barnes Obituary

Ronald Lee Barnes, age 74, 2 months, and 19 days, entered into peaceful rest January 8, 2021 at Memorials Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was born to James P. and Annie (Simpson) Barnes on October 20, 1946 in Olmsted, Illinois. Ron was their baby boy rounding out their family with his 3 older sisters and 2 older brothers. The indomitable nature surrounding a fiercely loving heart for his family is the Ron Barnes that all who knew him well recognized. The ever-growing family Ron treasured was a testament to the love he shared with his lifelong love and soulmate, Marilyn (Copeland) Barnes. Ron met Marilyn at the age of 17, when most people have no idea what their future holds. Theirs held each other. Four years later, on June 22, 1968, Ron and Marilyn began a beautiful journey full of life, love, and laughter for more than 52 years together. The legacy created by that bond is a family with roots so deep and seamless they continue to grow with each new addition. Ron and Marilyn together raised to sons, Ronald Lee II and John Daniel and one daughter Mary Ann. Ronnie gave Ron his daughter-in-law Drema and three grandkids, Shane, Aaron, and Dreanna. Dreanna gave him a great-grandson, Colton. Mary gave Ron a son-in-law Keith and three grandkids, Jared with his wife Paige, Sarah, and Joshua. John gave Ron a daughter-in-law Tammy Sue and two grandsons, Jacob, and Nicholas. Ron is lovingly remembered by his surviving sister Mabel Lawson and his sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Jim Braun. Ron is proceeded in death by his parents, James and Annie Barnes, his sister Gloria and his brothers Jim and Roy. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 23, 2021. A visitation will b held from 9:30 AM to 10 AM followed by a service. Internment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery at 11 AM.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to be entrusted with the care of Ron and ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
