Roger Gordie Malley, 65, passed away September 4th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family in Pass Christian. He was born March 24, 1958 in Bay St. Louis, the fifth of eight children to Aaron Joseph and Verlene Uvie (Saucier) Malley. He grew up in the Dedeaux community and as you might imagine, he loved the outdoors. Hunting was his favorite, but some fishing, riding horses and lots of other things came into play as well. Roger came to be known as "Poochie" early on and it just stuck with him through life. He attended Hancock county schools before deciding to go to work. Poochie had always been good with his hands and building things, so he made himself a successful career as a carpenter. He built houses all over South MS for many years, but later started working shutdowns, travelling to wherever the work was. Now Poochie was, by all trusted accounts, Poochie...and that says a lot. Those who truly knew him understand completely. A care-free, easy going guy who really didn't have a care in the world, he lived life just the way he wanted. When he wasn't hunting or mowing the grass, something else he thoroughly enjoyed doing, you would normally find him sitting in his rocker on his front porch with a cold Natural Lite in his hand. That was his spot, watching all the grand-dogs, the driveway, and the world go by. His grandchildren have always said they wanted to "live life like Poochie", because he always lived it to the fullest. For all that he was and then some, Poochie will be well remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Aaron and Verlene Malley, brothers Garland and Daryl Malley, and his sister Laura Malley, with an infant sister Linda. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of more than 47 years, Debra Ann (Cuevas) Malley, and their only daughter Kandas (Jamie) Saucier; his brothers: Dexter, Stevie (Grass), and Kyle Malley (Buddy); and his care-giver and sister-in-law, Jackie Melton, along with his Yorkie son, Ryder. Poochie leaves a legacy of three grandchildren: Jay Saucier (CC Roig), Jray Saucier, and Keon Farmer, all of whom he loved dearly, including his grand spider monkey, Leo and all the grand dogs as well, along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors. Services will be held at The Refuge Church at 5755 Rocky Hill Dedeaux Road in Kiln, with visitation from 6 - 9 PM Thursday evening, and again at 10 AM Friday morning. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM, with Bro. Josh Daniels officiating. Afterward Poochie will be laid to rest in the Standard Sandhill Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Liz, Sam, Cammie, Chaplain Ken, Ashlyn, Chris, and the entire staff at Gentiva Hospice for their heartfelt, comforting care for both Poochie and our family over this very trying time.Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Malley family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
