Randall Hammons Obituary

Randall Bates Hammons, 67 of Wiggins, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 1st at his home. He was born June 26, 1954 in Jeffersonville, IN, one of six children to Robert and Margie Lee (LaGrande) Hammons. Randy grew up in Charlestown, just off the Ohio River and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing football and basketball. He joined the US Navy and served honorably. After his discharge, he went to work for Trane, manufacturing heating and air conditioning units and worked his way into management. Randy was the type of person who loved helping people in any way he could. If he saw someone in need, he was going to stop and see if he could help. From giving rides to buying gas, even shoes or whatever the need may be, Randy would do whatever he could. He coached in youth athletics for many years and was a fun, outgoing guy. While he had his struggles in life, as most do, he was a loving husband, friend and neighbor who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Randy was preceded by his parents, Robert and Margie Hammons, his sister Fran and brothers Bobby and Robert Hammons; a brother-in-law Danny Reece, and his son, Travis Hammons. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of the past ten years, Tanya; his daughter Emily Hammons of Lexington, KY; his sister Thelma Reece of Jeffersonville, IN and his brother, Steve (Carolyn) Hammons of Houston, TX. He leaves a legacy of two grandchildren, Ian and Isaac Rone, along with several nieces, hephews, extended family and friends. Randy's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service may be set at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Hammons family in their time of need. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
