Pete Dudenhefer, Jr. Obituary

Pete Bertrand Dudenhefer, Jr., 77 of the Kiln, passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born November 9, 1943 in New Orleans and grew up there in the post-WWII era. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and building models in his early years, adding drag racing, crossword puzzles and much more as he grew older. Pete graduated from Holy Cross Academy with the Class of 1961 and attended LSU in New Orleans for a year before joining the National Guard. He possessed an entrepreneurial, adventurous spirit and was one who never sat idle. In 1971, he moved to Houston, TX and opened a day care. A few years after, Pete decided to operate a tow truck for a while. Venturing back into business, Pete then opened the "Hoagie Hut" in Pasadena, TX and ran it for some time. Along this time is when his boys were playing baseball, and Pete managed the Pasadena Orioles Little League team for about 5 years as well. Seeing the trend to video games, he then opened the "Solid Quarter" game room in Pasadena as well. It was so successful that he opened a second location in South Houston, operating them until he sold them. Pete then moved his family back to Louisiana, living in Slidell where he ventured into the publishing world. He edited and published a publication for medical doctors, by medical doctors, which he did for some fifteen years or so. Keep in mind that during all this time, Pete would often drive taxis and sell cars, just as a hobby more or less, to stay busy and provide for his family. And somehow, still found the time to construct a model battleship which was the the size of a couch. You may wonder how he ever had any time for his family, but Pete was very good at balancing all that he had going on and his home life. He is remembered as a genuine thinker, someone who analyzed things from every angle. He loved a good political debate and was about as conservative as they come. Pete was Catholic by faith, attending Annunciation Catholic Church in the Kiln. If he found a free moment, he enjoyed shooting and was quite the marksman as well. Though he didn't hunt them, Pete also loved ducks and had many items in his home. Though he will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends, Pete is now enjoying a well-deserved rest. He was preceded by his parents, Pete & Mary Louise Dudenhefer, Sr. Left to cherish his memories are: his spouse and life-partner of the past seven years, Sharon Campbell; two sons, Pete Dudenhefer, III of Bellingham, WA and Joe (Tricia) Capraro of Palm Desert, CA; and his only brother, Cary (Mary) Dudenhefer of New Orleans. He leaves a legacy of two granddaughters who he adored, Dylon and Masyn Capraro, also of Palm Desert. Pete's final wishes were to be cremated and scattered, which his family is honoring. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Annunciation Catholic Church Chapel at 8:00 AM, with all who knew him welcome to attend.
