Peggy Sue Meyers, 64, passed away April 3, 2022 in Ellisville, MS. She was born January 22, 1958 in Laurel, the eighth of nine children to Willie Ray and Dorothy Mae (McDaniel) Cromwell. Peggy grew up in the Rainey community outside Moselle where she enjoyed all things outdoors. She was, by every account, a definite tomboy that loved climbing trees, fishing, swimming in the creek, and so much more. She attended South Jones schools and went to work for Murray Envelope in Hattiesburg. Peggy always had a green thumb, and eventually made her way to working at a couple of nurseries in the area, most recently for Crosby in Moselle. She is remembered as the rambunctious one of the group. Peggy was always into something, and did her best to keep all her siblings "in line". A kind and loving sister and wife, she had a love for animals, especially dogs. Her chihuahua "Squirrell" has been with her for the past five years, and was always right by her side. Peggy worked hard in her life and loved to cook. Her chicken and dumplings and biscuits, made completely from scratch, were among the best ever. She also loved to keep her yard nice and pretty with flowers, and in her spare time, a fishing trip was always in order. Peggy would also collect driftwood on her fishing trips, so she was coming home with something. Of all the things she enjoyed in life, her family at the top of that list. She liked nothing better than family get-togethers and spoiling grandchildren. Peggy was one of a kind, and will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her father Willie Ray Cromwell, her mother Dorothy and step-father, Clyde Watts; her sisters Lucille Stewart, Eva Ezell, and Darlene Jarrell, and her infant brother, Donnie Cromwell. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband, Randy Meyers; her children, sons Charlie Murphy of GA and Tony (Tiffany) Murphy of the Buck Creek community, and her daughter Charlene Murphy of Helena; her sisters Patricia (James) Knotts of Ellisville, Virgie Wells of Lucedale, Connie Brady and Joyce (David) Spears, both of Petal, with brothers Rayford Cromwell, also of Petal, and Jimmy (Janice) Cromwell of Magee, Allen (Sue) McDaniel, Scotty (Sissy) McDaniel, both of Petal, and Phillip (Trudy) McDaniel of Dixie. Peggy leaves a legacy of five grandchildren, two great-grands, and numerous extended family and friends through the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which the family has honored, with plans for a memorial service to be held at a later time. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Meyers family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers in this trying time.
