Patrick Dickson Obituary

Patrick Bruns Dickson, 79, passed away on June 24, 2022 at 2:05 PM at in McHenry, MS. Patrick was born on February 04, 1943 in Hickory, NC the son and oldest of his two siblings. He grew up in the Orlando and enjoyed the outdoors, being on the water, and playing football. Patrick attended Boone High School where he lettered as a linebacker and graduated with Class of 1961. He was offered a football scholarship to Wofford University in South Carolina and played there for four years. Patrick graduated with a degree in business and went to work for R. J. Reynolds. He moved back to Orlando in the mid 1960s, where he met Brenda on a blind date. They were married in 1969 and made their home in Orlando for a while, before moving to the small town of Astor on the St. Johns River. They loved being on the boat and spent a lot of time on the water with friends and neighbors. Patrick worked in sales and Brenda worked for General Dynamics. In 2004, they moved to Charlotte, NC when General Dynamics transferred her there. That stay was only for a few months before the company shut down. Brenda searched for and found a position with General Dynamics in McHenry, MS, which brought them to South MS shortly after Hurricane Katrina. Patrick is remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and generous person. He loved the water and being on his boat, his animals, and of course his beloved Florida Gators. As a former player, Patrick was a sports fan, which included NASCAR as well. He was the more quiet and reserved type, but he loved his wife and family, enjoying the get togethers, trips to the mountains, and more over the years. He will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his mother, Francis (Peeler) Dickson, and his brother, Joe Dickson. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda; his brother Jim (Dana) Dickson of Clearwater, FL, along with numerous extended family and friends. Patrick's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring.
