Patricia Mae Brickerd, known by most as Pat, passed away February 5th, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was the oldest of four children, born July 13, 1940 in Vero Beach, FL and grew up there. Pat came to love the beach, as you might imagine, spending lots of time and taking long walks there. She also loved camping on the river, reading, hanging out with her friends and cooking. After high school, she married and stayed in Vero Beach for a while before moving to Long Island, NY before returning to the quieter, simpler life in South MS. Pat was a dedicated mother and housewife, always making sure something good to eat was there for her kids and family. In August of 1970, she married Bill Brickerd and the two have been inseperable since. They were literally the love of each others life. They enjoyed travelling together, visiting Alaska and several other states over the years, making many happy memories together along the way. Pat is remembered as a loveable, caring woman. Her daughters refer to her as a "nourishing" mother, while her grandchildren consider her "wise". Of her favorite things to do was watching her soaps. She didn't miss them, especially General Hospital and would readily tell anyone..."Shut up...I'm watching my soaps!". Pat was a Christian woman by faith, attending McHenry Missionary Baptist Church, and also volunteered at McHenry Volunteer Fire Department for a time to boot. An active, fun-loving wife, mother and grandmother, Pat will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, Timothy & Grace Ryan, and two daughters, Rosamond Smith and Sadie Grimes. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband and soulmate, Bill Brickerd of McHenry; daughters Connie (Willie) Jordan, also of McHenry and Patti Netherton of Clarksville, TN, with sons Sonny (Brenda) Fendley of McHenry, Terry (Paula) Brickerd of Groves, TX, and Thomas Bright (Mary Jo Durham), also of McHenry, with one sister, Joan Cooler of Vero Beach, FL. Pat leaves a long legacy of thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-three great-grands, 1 great-great-grandchild with three more coming very soon, and untold numbers of extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A Celebration of Life will be held at her home, Tuesday afternoon, February 8th, 2021. Close friends and family are welcome to stop by and share laughs and memories together. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Brickerd family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over this trying time.
