Melanie Anne Scott, 59 of Saucier, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 10th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, losing a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer with her soul-mate Helen by her side. She was born June 6, 1962 in Natchez, the daughter and baby of two children of Roland Newman and Adelaide (Nason) Scott. Melanie, or "Mel-Anne" as she came to be known, grew up in Natchez, MS, a "tomboy" from the word go. She loved anything and everything outdoors, from fishing to 4-wheelers, even racing trucks as well. Mel-Anne attended Adams Co. Christian School and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, earning her associate's degree in computer technology. She was somewhat torn between career paths, unable to choose between something in architecture or computer engineering. So she decided to work in retail for a while, spending some time at Lowes and later and at Radio Shack, where she managed a store for some years until the company shut down. Mel-Anne worked as a medical courier before becoming a security guard at The Inn by the Sea in Pass Christian, where she had been for the past few years. She so enjoyed sitting under the oak tree, drinking coffee and talking with friends. Mel-Anne literally never met a stranger, was always willing and eager to help anyone, making many life-long friends along the way. She is remembered as someone who treasured love, life, family and friends. An overly giving woman who was so full of life, Mel-Anne was selfless to a fault, adored children and loved fishing. In her spare time, you would often see her riding her motorcycle or just sitting on the beach as the waves rolled in. An amateur photographer, she took so many pictures, either with her very nice camera set-up, or even with her iPhone, since she always had to have the latest model as soon as they came out. The wisdom and love she shared through the years is treasured by her family and friends. Mel-Anne will be forever missed and loved by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, Roland & Adelaide Scott and her brother, Robert Kenyon "Ken" Scott. Left to cherish her memories are: her soul-mate and life companion for the past thirty-three years, Helen Lee; her two children, a son Steven L. Scott of Saucier and her daughter Tina; her sisters, Iona and Wendy (Michael), with brothers Ricky, Terry (Amy) and Eljan; with her "Mom and Dad" inlaws, Billy and Rosa Lee. Mel-Anne leaves a legacy of one grandson, Jon; nieces Britany, Abigail (Rhett) and Victoria, with one nephew, Dillon and a great-niece, Charleigh; plus her cherished friend Brandon and his son Isaiah, along with several extended family and numerous loved friends. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Scott family in their time of need and asks that you keep Helen and everyone in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
