Marguerite Herring Obituary

"Precious in the eyes of Jehovah is the death of his loyal one.” Psalms 116:15. Marguerite Bertha Herring, 73 of Wiggins, passed away Sept. 18th at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 27, 1946 in Gulfport, the daughter and middle of three children to John Anthony & Inez Marie (Byrd) Littich. Growing up on a small family farm in Gulfport, Marguerite was an "outdoors" young lady that loved riding horses. She played basketball while in school and graduated from Harrison Central High School. She married in 1965 and made their family home in Gulfport, staying home to take care of her three children. Over the years, Marguerite developed a love for antiques, spending lots of time going to yard sales and flea markets. She became affectionately known as the "Junkin' Queen" for her love of searching far and wide for items she saw value in. Marguerite was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Wiggins and enjoyed playing cards with her friends in her spare time. She was a lady with a very big heart, with those who knew her best using words like giving, loving and determined to describe her. Marguerite was always the life of the party, full of energy and the most generous of souls. You could always count on her to be first one to go away someplace with. The most important thing to her was talking to others about her faith, which was made firm in the Resurrection hope made possible by ransom sacrifice by Christ Jesus. John 11: 4, 11, 25. Marguerite was a woman who became all things to all people, the first one to offer her help. Whatever the need she would fill it, whether it be advice, comfort or just a laugh. She would want all of us to take comfort in knowing that she is alive not only in our hearts, but in Jehovah’s memory. (Psalms 116:15) Her life cannot be put down on a single page, but we all have our own stories of her and cannot wait until we see her again. She will be missed. 1 Samuel 20:18. She was preceded by her parents, John A. and Inez M. Littich and her sister, Joann Feather. Left to cherish her memories are: her three children, sons Anthony of Gulfport and Scott of Conroe, TX, and her daughter, Michele (Tim) Behrendt of Wiggins; and her sister Marilyn (Phillip) Cumberland of Long Beach. She leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren: Celine and Richard Herring, Kameron (Sarah) Behrendt, Madison (Andre) Cardi, Kathleen (Ben) Herring, Alyssa and Kara Herring, with one great-grand, Lilly. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A private memorial service will be held Wednesday in Wiggins. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Herring family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
