Lena Baacke Obituary

Lena Mae Baacke, 77 of Biloxi, passed away Sunday at Merit Health in Biloxi. She was born in Mobile, AL on November 19, 1942, the daughter and third of six children to Lee C. Sr. and  Thelma Elizabeth (Raley) Landry. Growing up in the Mobile area, Lena enjoyed music, but her true passion was dancing. One of her claims to fame was being on American Bandstand and getting a photo, or what has become known as a "selfie" these days, with the late Dick Clark. After graduating high school, Lena married a young man in the USAF, and travelled the country while he served. She focused on her kids and taking care of the family wherever they happened to be stationed. Dancing was the true passion of her life. She could be found swinging around the floor any time she had the chance. Lena is remembered as a strong and determined woman. Kind, caring, giving...there really aren't enough adjectives to fully describe her. A loving sister, mother and grandmother, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, Lee & Beth Landry, Sr., and two of her brothers, Billy and Michael. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving children: Asa Landry of Grapevine, TX, Greg (Rhonds) Baacke of Navarre, FL, Deborah Ross of Panama City Beach, FL and Richard Baacke of Biloxi, MS; two brothers: Lee Landry, Jr. of Bayou LaBatre and Anthony (Becky) Landry of Coden, AL, with her sister Beth in Texas. She leaves a legacy of six grandchildren, six great-grands and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Baacke family in their time of need and asks that you keep them lifted up in your prayers through this difficult time.
