Johnny Smith Obituary

Johnny Hoyle Smith, 68 of the White Sand community, passed away January 01, 2022 at his home. He was born on October 29,1953 in Algiers, LA, the second of four children to Overtis and Evelyn (Broussard) Smith. He grew up in the White Sand community and enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, playing basketball and other sports occupied most of his free time in his younger days, but growing up on a family farm limited those. Johnny attended Poplarville schools, graduating with the Class of 1971. Not long after graduating, he went to work delivering bread and made his entire career doing just that. Johnny worked for Riesen and Sunbeam briefly, but spent the vast majority of his years delivering Bunny bread all over South Mississippi. He is remembered as a caring family man that worked hard to provide for them. He only had one direction, and that was forward. Johnny had a good heart and would help anyone that had a need. He still loved to hunt and fish, watch old Western movies, and visit the casino or horse track occasionally, just to relax. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Overtis and Evelyn Smith; his loving wife Connie (Whitfield) Smith, and his sister, Barbara Price. Left to cherish his memories are: his newphews, Kerry (Cristyn) Price of White Sand and Jerry Price; his sister Cindy McIntosh of Wiggins, and brother Larry (Wendy) Smith of VA; great nephews, Logan and Brandt Price of Poplarville, and Jamie Smith of TX, along with several extended family and friends. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Smith family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
