John Paul Abshire, Jr. 39, of Kiln, left this life too soon, Saturday, September 17, 2022. "John Dogg" was born in New Orleans, May 17, 1983, to John Abshire Sr. and Rhonda Jacobs. John attended Hancock Vocational School where he received his degree in welding. He was a hard worker who always made sure to provide for his family. John met the love of his life, Kayla, in 2006 and together they raised two boys, John III and Kevin, whom Johnny was so proud of. His most treasured role he had was being a stay-at-home dad to his boys! John was dependable. The kind of guy you could always count on to be there for anything you needed. Even when he didn't know he was needed, he would show up and jump in to help. Never meeting a stranger, he earned the nick name "Neighborhood Watch" due to him always riding around making sure no one needed a hand. He loved his pit bulls, his first pup Scrappy secured a place in his heart, creating a love for raising pits. He loved to tease, play jokes, and most of all annoy the snot out of Kayla. John was a family man, a role he watched and learned from a man who took on being his dad when he didn't have to be, Robert Matranga Jr. Most of all, John loved hard, beginning with his first love, his momma and friend, Rhonda. John left so many too soon, the care and love he showed everyone will never be forgotten. Preceding John in death, his grandparents, Donald and Gladys Jacobs and William and Patsy Sbisa; one Aunt Patricia Jacobs; and one cousin Geron Diette. Left to cherish his memory, the love of his life Kayla Lacoste; their two boys John III and Kevin Abshire; his parents Robert and Rhonda (Jacobs) Matranga Jr.; one sister Amber Shea; one brother Robert Matranga III; two nephews William and Calvin Shea; and one niece Nevaeh Abshire. John leaves a legacy of numerous extended family and friends, all whom he loved immensely. A memorial service is in the works and details will be posted as the family provides. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Abshire family during this difficult time and would ask that you remember Rhonda, Kayla, his boys, and the rest of his family in the days to come.
