Joel Stephen Lott, 73 of Carriere, passed away March 17th at UMMC in Jackson. He was born February 10, 1948 to Wilfred and Dimple Lott in Purvis, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Preston Lott. Joel is survived by his wife, Carolyn and children, Tina (Mike) Zimmer, Penny James, Joseph (Carrie) Lott, Jason Lott and Justin (Tanya) Lott; and his sister, Phyllis Seal; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren along with extended family and friends. Joel proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam era, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. He made a career as a welder but would have preferred to deer hunt instead! Joel will be remembered as a homebody; his hideout was his shed on the hill. Joel was a simple man that loved his family beyond measure. He will always be loved and forever missed. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 30th at Central Baptist Church in Carriere, MS at 5:30 pm. A private burial with honors will take place on Wednesday, March 31st at Biloxi National Cemetery.
