Jessie Keeton, Jr., 50 of Toomsuba, passed away Monday, July 27th at Merit Central Hospital in Jackson. He was the oldest of three children to David & Mary Elizabeth (Turnage) Keeton, born in Monroe, LA July 7, 1970. He had a rather unique beginning, looking at the date and time of 7-7-70 at 7 PM. Jessie grew up between Winnsboro, LA and Meridian, MS, where he came to love riding his bike as a young boy. He was always trying to jump over things in true "Evel Knievel" style. He progressed to dirt track racing, fishing, and LSU football as his favorite things in life, sticking with him through the years. Jessie's great-grandmother, Martha Jane Holloman, was Cherokee Indian, a heritage he was proud of as well. After high school, he worked for many years building cabinets for Mr. John, custom building and installing them all over Southeastern MS and beyond. Jessie was a friendly, giving person, willing to help anyone at any time with whatever he could. He loved his family, demonstrating it by calling daily and regularly to check in, rarely if ever missing a birthday or important event for any of them. A Christian by faith, Jessie attended Crossview Church in Collinsville with his sister and her family. A loving brother, father, uncle and devoted friend, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his father David Keeton; grandparents Jessie, Sr. & Lena May Keeton, Sam & Zaby Mae Turnage, and his sister-in-law Edna Keeton. Left to cherish his memories are: his children, Jordan Keeton and Shanna Rae Keeton, both of Toomsuba, and Daniel Keeton; his mother and step-father, Mary (Jim) Henard of Woodstock, GA; one brother David Keeton and a sister, April (Kendall) McIlwain, both of Toomsuba, and his sister Judy (Danny) Kilgore of Collinsville. He leaves a legacy of three grandchildren with four nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly, with numerous extended family and friends through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service may be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Keeton family in their time of need. Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
