Jerold Dois Johnson, 90 years young, passed away November 19, 2020 at his home in Lumberton. He was the 4th of 6th children born to Charles and Mary Johnson on June 19, 1930 in Baxterville, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lily Mae Spangler and Estelle Cameron; brothers, Glen and Quinton Johnson; grandchildren Jonathan and Wanda and great granchildren, Noah, Sofia and Faith. Jerold leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 70 years, Dora Johnson; son, Gary Johnson; daughter and son in law, Theresa and Jake Sones; sister, Iris Entrekin; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly), Stephanie (Jimmy) and Ryan; great grands, James, Gracie, Lily and Rachael along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jerold was a straight to the point kind of man. He grew up during a time where foolishness wasn’t tolerated. His hobbies included working and when he got done with that he worked some more. Jerold spent his free time critiquing other’s work. There was never guessing where you stood with Jerold or where he stood. He was a master carpenter by trade and took great pride in a job well done. He was a Corporal in the United States Army and faithfully served his country during a time of uncertainty. It was done with the hope of having a better country for this children and grandchildren to live in. Jerold was a lifelong member of Baxterville Baptist Church where he served over 50 years as Deacon. Jerold will be remembered as a dedicated, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. The family invites everyone to a Visitation to be held Sunday, November 22 at Baxterville Baptist Church from 2 pm to funeral service time at 3 pm. Interment will follow at Baxterville Cemetery.
