James Tootle Obituary

James Edwin Tootle, 72 of Lumberton, passed away at his home Saturday evening, with his loving wife Charla by his side. He was born August 3rd, 1947 on the family farm in Clarksburg, OH, the youngest of two boys to Floyd and Virginia (Hudson) Tootle. Jim grew up on that family farm, working and doing whatever needed to be done. From milking cows to cutting and baling hay, there was nothing he couldn't do. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army, serving honorably for 6 years. After his discharge, Jim went to work for Wear-Ever for a few years before securing a position with G.E. He enjoyed making light bulbs so much that he remained there for over 30 years before his retirement. In the early 80s, he met Charla through some friends. They were married and spent the rest of their lives making many happy memories. They lived on that same family farm, where Jim continued to work at it over the years. In 2016, they "retired" to Lumberton to relax and enjoy Black Mouth Currs. He is remembered as a quiet and reserved guy that loved adventure. Jim built race engines and raced dirt track for many years. He enjoyed white water rafting with friends and family whenever possible, or just riding through the country-side to enjoy the scenery. He will no doubt be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Jim was preceded by his parents, Floyd & Virginia Tootle. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of over 36 years, Charla; a son, Tim (Jen) Tootle of Carmel, IN, and a daughter Wendy (Bill) Hines of Frankfurt, OH, along with his and Charla's two Black Mouth kids, Whiskey Jack and Tequilla Journey; his only brother, Jay (Susan) Tootle of Clarksburg, OH; his brother-in-law Monte (Christine) Fisher of Greenville, SC and a nephew, Sean (Mindy) Fisher of Worthington, OH. He leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with numerous extended family, friend and neighbors through the years. Jim's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Tootle family in their time of need. Please keep Charla and the entire Tootle family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
