James Lee Lizana, 62 of the Riceville community, passed away Tuesday evening at his home. James was the fourth of five children to Byron Hosea and Frances Marie (Ladner) Lizana. Born April 5, 1958, James grew up on the family farm and dairy there in the Riceville community. As most South Mississippi boys, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and with the river close by, he and his sister would swim as often as possible. James also enjoyed riding motorcycles and was known to be very protective of his stuff, especially his motorcycle. James graduated from Hancock North Central High School, a member of the Class of 1976 and went to work. James has done a bit of it all in his career. He went to work in construction at first, but has hauled pulpwood, owned a tire shop, even had his own track hoe and dozer at one time. He was definitely the hard-working, never-idle type, a man of many talents to say the least. A born-again Christian by faith, James is remembered as a loving son and brother that placed family above all else. A caring provider to his family in his life, a stroke in 2015 left him homebound and affected him deeply, but it did not diminish the loving husband, father and grandfather he was. He will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. James was preceded by his parents, Byron Hosea and Francis Marie Lizana; a brother Douglas Lizana, and his first wife, Donna. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife Joan; step-children Scott (Raquel) Robbins of Delonaga, GA, Tonia Robbins of Stringer, MS, and Mitchel (Savana) Robbins of Foxworth, MS; his sister Patsy (Lavon) Ladnier of Perk, a brother Billy (Sarah) Lizana of Saucier, and his twin sister Jan (John) Diamond, also of Perk. He leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren, five great-grands, and numerous extended family, friends and neighbors over the years. Services have been set for Friday, September 25, 2020 at Biloxi Creek Baptist Church where he was a member, serving as a deacon for many years. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service at 2:00. Afterward James will be laid to rest in the Ladner Cemetery in the Silver Run community. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Lizana family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
