James "Flash" Holland

November 27, 1954 — July 31, 2025

Saucier

James "Flash" Holland died unexpectedly on Thursday July 31, 2025 at his home in Saucier, MS. James was born on November 27, 1954 to Dock Lamar and Grace Evelyn Holland. He graduated from Gulfport High School, class of 1975, and was looking forward to attending the upcoming 50th class reunion this year. After he graduated, he went to work at Ingalls Shipyard and learned the welding trade. This is where he first got his nickname Flash. He was honored when a picture of him welding was placed in the Ingalls newspaper with the title "James 'Flash' Holland draws a bead." James was an exceptional welder and worked over the years at many of the local shipyards, and in building the nuclear power plant in New Orleans. Flash's family and friends will all remember him as the life of the party with his booming voice and booming personality. As a young man, he loved hosting crawfish boils at his house in Saucier surrounded by friends. His house was always the go-to house, where his many lifelong friends knew they were always welcome. James was preceded in death by his parents, Dock & Grace Holland, and his older brother Edward Holland. James is survived by his son, Justin Holland, daughter-in-law Jessica Holland, grandson Aidan Holland, and his honorary daughter, Jessica Armstrong. Jessica was always close to her Uncle James from the time she was born and was there with him to the end. He is also survived by his younger sisters, Laura (Doug) Vierling, Linda (Mike) Johnston, Janice (O'Neal) Cuevas, Debbie (Theresa) Slusser, and his loyal dog, George, who was right by his side. He has many nieces and nephews between his five siblings, all of whom he loved. Flash chose not to have a funeral service. Instead, he asked that his friends "drink a cold one" in his memory. If you feel led, any contribution toward James' final expenses will be appreciated. Donations can be made directly to the family through the donations tab. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Holland family in their time of need and we ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
