James Ronald "Jim" Davis, 80 of McHenry, joined his precious wife Deanna in eternity Friday, Nov. 20, 2020 in Flower Mound, TX. Jim was born February 26, 1940 in Hume, IL, the son of Emerson Davis and Helen (Meyers) Davis Matteucci. He grew up in Danville, IL. where he started working in shoes with Sears. After high school Jim enlisted in the US Navy, travelling to Cuba and Pensacola, FL while serving honorably for 4 years. Following his discharge, Jim returned to Danville for a couple of years before deciding to move to Gulfport, MS in 1962. He has called Vicksburg, Jackson and Gulfport, MS, along with Beaumont, TX home over the years, but he eventually settled in McHenry. Jim continued to work in shoe sales his entire career, owning his own shop for a while in Beaumont, but eventually retiring from Shoe Dept. in 2013. He also volunteered at Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport for several years. Jim was a kind, hardworking man that enjoyed helping others. A loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be forever missed by all that knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, his step-father Sonny Matteucci, and his loving soul-mate and wife, Deanna Starlene Davis. Left to cherish his memories are: his son Stephen Michael Davis, with bonus children Allen (Juanita) Sheely, Steven Sheely, and Sandra Wright. Jim leaves a legacy of six grandchildren: Marcus (Melissa) Wright, Andrew Bentz, Caleb Sheely, Steven Sheely, Amanda (Logan) Smith and Ashley Harmon; three great-grands: Magan, Maisie and Mason Wright, and one great-great-grand, Barrett Rushing, along with many extended family, friends, and untold numbers of customers with comfortable shoes over the years. Jim's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. He will be laid to rest with his loving wife Darlene at McHenry Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Davis family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over this difficult time.
