Jalen Martes Taje Curtis, 20 of Wiggins, passed away Friday evening, July 17th at Memorial Hospital in Wiggins. He was born June 5, 2000 at Forrest General in Hattiesburg, the only son of Mia Harrison and Roderick Fairley. He grew up in Wiggins and was well known by so many. A 2017 graduate of Stone High School, Jalen was a member of the Stone High Pride Band. He was also a member at New Welcome Hill Baptist Church, where he sang in the Youth Choir. Jalen was a hard working young man, employed as a Personal Care Assistant through Nursing Management in Gautier. He enjoyed travelling, cooking, driving and making everyone around him smile. He also worked hard caring for his Granny "Cookie". He will be so fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Jalen was preceded by his aunts: Marilyn Monroe and Teshia Smith, and his godmother, Estella Berry. Jalen's loving spirit will be cherished by: his parents, Mia (Ronald) Harrison of Mandeville, LA and Roderick Fairley of Lawrenceville, GA; maternal grandparents Gwenyth "Cookie" and Felix Ramsey of Wiggins; paternal grandparents Clarence "Papi" and Lisa "Meemee" Fairley of Loganville, GA; brothers Jamaris Harrison of Mandeville, LA, Mykel Harris of Lithonia, GA and Deon Whittle of Gulfport; one sister, Jasmine Harrison of Covington, LA; aunts Takiria Smith of Wiggins and Keisha "Shay" (Casey) Darden of Lawrenceville, GA; his godbrother Js'Khristian "Khrispy" Blackburn, godfather Donovan Coleman, godson Easton Henderson, and former step-father Gregory Chandler of Wiggins, along with a host of special family, friends and classmates. A memorial service has been set for Jalen on Sunday, August 2nd at 2:00 PM, in the sanctuary of New Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Monroe will officiate.
