Jackie Yvonne (Styron) Calhoun

Jackie Yvonne Calhoun, a loving sister, wife and mother, passed away September 8th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was the middle of three children, born on Halloween 1956 to Richard Huston and Myrtle (Beavers) Styron. Jackie grew up in Gulfport, a home-girl from the start that came to love Elvis Presley. She graduated from Gulfport High School, a member of the Class of 1974 and went on to USM in Hattiesburg. She met Richard in 1976 at Taco Bell, as folks from his church would often stop by after services to eat. That meeting began a relationship that bloomed and they were married just six months later. The couple made their home in the port city and have lived there since. Jackie held a couple of jobs around before going to work for Gulfport Schools, where she most of her career. For the past several years, she has served as the receptionist in the technology department. Jackie is remembered as a loving soul. A selfless woman who would do anything for anybody, always placing others before herself. She was a caring, loving wife and mother, but she was so much more. Jackie was their support system, problem solver, protector, chauffer...whatever they needed, she was there. For her kids, husband, family, friends or whomever, Jackie was there. She lived a servant's life, always loving and caring for the needs of others. She was the type of person that made whomever she came into contact with, feel special...simply because she truly cared. There was nothing that made her happier than talking and video chatting with her family, especially her beautiful grandchildren. "Miss Jackie," as so many referred to her, will be greatly missed by so many. Jackie was preceded parents, Richard and Myrtle Styron. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of forty-four years, Richard, and their two children, son Richard Joshua Calhoun of Saucier and daughter Marissa (Andrew) Peleaz of Acworth, GA; her sister Glenda (Rusty) Asher of Bay St. Louis, and her brother Richard Styron of Magee, MS. Jackie leaves a legacy of two grandchildren, Addalyn (11) & Allyson (9) Peleaz, both of Acworth, GA, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, with countless people who she has helped in some way over the years. Services are set for Tuesday, September 14th at Biloxi River Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Bro. Danny Calhoun officiating. Afterward, Jackie will be laid to rest in the Three Rivers Free Church of God Cemetery in Gulfport. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Calhoun family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
