Herman Lucious Stokley, 84 of Waynesboro, passed away Friday morning, May 26, 2023 at Wayne General Hospital. He was born July 17, 1938 in Waynesboro, one of twelve children to parents Shirley and Arentha Stokley. He grew up in the area and has called the Waynesboro area home his entire life. Herman joined the US Army and was honorably discharged due to a medical issue. He truly enjoyed the country life, including farming, milking cows, and other related things. Herman also worked at a couple of gas stations along the way, doing whatever he could to make ends meet. Herman is remembered as a "pretty good" fella for the most part. He spent the last several years taking care of his chickens and keeping the grass neatly cut. Herman will be fondly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Shirley and Arentha Stokley, his daughter Barbara Stokley, ten of his siblings, and an infant great-granddaughter, Joanna Sky Harrell. Left to cherish his memories are: his daughter, Polly (David) Harrell of Calera, AL; and his last remaining sister, Martha Winkles, also of Waynesboro. Herman leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren: Ricky, Daniel, Chris, and Michael Williams, Leigh and Joanie Harrell, with David Lee (Tara) Harrell, Jr., and Martha (Jay) Wilson, plus his fifteen great-grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. The family undecided on the interment location, but is planning a celebration of his life at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Stokley family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
