Gregory Lynn Fountain, 59 of the Big Level community, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport. He was born November 21, 1960 in Mobile, AL, the thrid of seven children and son of Stanley Niles and Betty Jo (Israel) Fountain, Sr. He grew up in Vancleave where he came to love fishing and horses, so much that early on in life, he had aspirations of being a jockey. Greg lost his dad when he was just 16, a major blow to his life. He dropped out of school and went to work offshore as a roughneck. He enjoyed it, working for Falcon, 2 N R and even Penrod over the 15 plus years in that field before moving to construction. Greg took a couple of lengthy falls that forced him to retire early. He loved to be out on the water and fishing, but had a large affection for animals, earning him the nickname "Dr. Doolittle" early on. Greg was a "can-do" person that did not let any project go unfinished. Energetic and jovial, he was not one to sit idly by, rather preferring to "get up and go". He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who truly knew him. He was preceded by his parents, Stanley Sr. & Betty Jo Fountain, his brother Bubba, and an infant brother as well. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of over 34 years, Dana and his brothers: Stanley (Melissa) of Ocean Springs, Paul of D'iberville, Anthony and Sammy of Perkinston, along with several extended family and friends. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service will be held at a later date, when all the family can get together. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Fountain family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep Dana and all the family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
