Gloria Joann Holmes

Gloria Joann Holmes, 93, of Carriere, MS, passed away peacefully August 30, 2021 at Highland Memorial Hospital.  Born the oldest of four children, to Ward and Olive (Manifold) Coup, on July 25, 1928 in Kingsville, OH.  Gloria lived a simple life, growing up in Ohio. Until she met Walter, who would sweep her off to Carriere, MS, where they grew a life and family together.  Gloria had a kind soul, never judging anyone she met. She was a hard worker, after her husband was injured in an accident, Gloria did whatever necessary to support her family.  Working for many years at Movie Star as well as a seamstress, making clothes for extra income.  She loved to paint and was a devoted Christian woman.  Gloria was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Slidell, LA where she served as long as possible. Gloria will be remembered by those who loved her as a loving and giving person, the kind that had a way of "making you feel good".  She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter Alvin Holmes, Sr.; her parents Ward and Olive (Manifold) Coup; and her brothers Pat and Ken Manifold; and a child Spring Holmes.  Left to cherish her warm and loving memories, are her sister Janet Hirstius of Kenner, LA; her children Karla (Larry) Trim of Ellejay, GA; Bill Hansen, Mike (Bobbie) Holmes, Matt Holmes, and Robin Holmes all of Carriere, MS; and Walter Holmes, Jr. of Johnson City, TN. Gloria leaves a legacy of twenty five grandchildren, forty five great grands, as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and family who will cherish her memory.  Gloria's wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring.  A memorial service will be held October 31, 2021 at Slidell Adventist Church at 12:00 pm followed by, being laid to rest next to her husband, Walter, in Picayune Memorial Gardens.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to served the Holmes family during this difficult time and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days ahead.
