Gerald Arnett Smith, Jr., 49 of Charleston, passed away January 02, 2022 at Crystal Health & Rehab in Greenwood, MS. He was born January 23, 1972 in Charleston, the youngest of two boys to Gerald Arnett Smith, Sr. and Abbie Gail (Douglas) Smith. Gerald grew up in Charleston and enjoyed tinkering with things like engines, electronics and more from an early age. He also loved music and played in the marching band while in school. After graduating from Charleston High School, Gerald became an over-the-road driver, hauling freight all across the country as a career. He is remembered as a loving son, taking care his mother through a lengthy illness. Gerald loved to help others and served with the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching professional wrestling, playing video games, camping and more. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Gerald was preceded by his mother, Abbie Douglas Smith, and his father, Gerald Arnett Smith, Sr. Left to cherish his memories are: his only brother, Tim (Angel) Nickens of Senatobia, and his long-time companion, Mary Harris of Charleston. Gerald also leaves a nephew, two nieces, and a lot of friends and extended family members. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
