Gary Patrick Moisant

Gary Patrick Moisant, 51 of Carriere, passed away Sunday, September 26th at his home. He was born April 4, 1970 in New Orleans, one of three children and only son of Jack Joseph, Jr. and Gloria (Persia) Moisant. He grew up in the Metairie area and was an outgoing, athletic young man who enjoyed golf, fishing, baseball and football. When indoors, he enjoyed cooking, picking up all he could from his mom and others along the way. Gary attended school at St. Ann and De La Salle before moving to Slidell, where he went to work at Young's Steakhouse as a waiter and cook. He spent several years there, also working at some other restaurants in his career. Though he never attended a formal culinary school, Gary was a very attentive, fast learner, picking up as much as possible from every chef he worked with. He loved cooking, honing his skills through the years and was as good as they come. He is remembered as an easy going person with a huge, giving heart and loved his family very much. Though he had his struggles in life as we all do, Gary managed them as best he could. He continued to enjoy fishing and golf through the years, partaking in both as often as he could. Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his niece, Stephanie Warren. Left to cherish his memories are: his two children, Garrett and Courtney Brooks; his father, Jack J. Moisant, Jr of Carriere and his mother, Gloria Persia of GA; his sisters Allison Warren of Miami, FL, Erin (Brian) Cappel of Bay St. Louis, and Kimberly Moisant of Gerorgia; his stepmother Ann Moisant of Slidell, along with two grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 5th at Resurrection Life Church in Picayune. Vistation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00.
