Fred Donald McDonald, Jr.

Fred Donald McDonald, Jr., 67, passed June 03, 2022 at at Connected Hearts Personal Care Home in Gulfport, MS. He was born September 24, 1954 in Gulfport, the oldest of three sons to Fred Donald and Neldra (Niolet) McDonald, Sr. Fred grew up in Gulfport where he enjoyed fishing with his brothers and friends. They were a rowdy group of boys, always into something. He attended Gulfport schools, and went on to USM after graduation. Fred became a petroleum engineer, working for oil companies in Houston, TX for several years. In the mid 90s, he retired from the oil industry and returned home to South Mississippi, and became a card dealer at the old Copa Casino, and later at Island View. Fred continued to fish in his spare time, spending lot of time on the water. He was more laid back than anything, always smiling, laughing, and trying his best to get others to laugh with him. Fred was a big Walt Disney fan, and enjoyed anything Disney over the years. His jovial personality will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his mother, Neldra McDonald, and his two brothers, Mark and Dale McDonald. Left to cherish his memories are: his father, Fred McDonald, Sr., and his nephew, Ryan McDonald, both of Gulfport, along with numerous friends, neighbors, co-workers and customers over the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
