Franklin Peter Darby, Sr., 86 of Lizana, passed away late Tuesday afternoon at Dixie White House in Pass Christian. He was born January 30, 1934 in New Orleans, one of eleven children to Clifford W. & Helen Darby. Frank grew up in New Orleans where he enjoyed fishing, working and relaxing. He left school at an early age to work on a dairy farm, just to help the family get by. At 18, Frank met a young lady named Rose Bowe and well, that was it as far as he was concerned. They were married in 1954, spending the rest of their lives together, until she passed away in 2005 and he was never quite the same. Frank worked for his brother as a forklift operator for many years, but in his spare time, he was usually driving around in his '93 F150 that he purchased brand new, looking for a place to wet a hook. He is remembered as a "great father and grandfather". He had a jovial spirit about him and loved to laugh as much as anyone. A warm, gentle and giving spirit, Frank loved his family. He was loved by all who truly knew him, and will be missed beyond measure. He was preceded by his parents, Clifford & Helen Darby; his siblings: Harry, Bertha, Minnie, Deloris, Clifford, Bill, his twin Roosevelt, Rosemary and June, along with the love of his life, his wife Rose and their son, Frank Jr. Left to cherish his memories are: his children: Irma (Robert) Mitchell of Slidell, Rene (Cindy) Darby of Lizana and Clifford Darby (Larry Brueggemier) of Gulfport; one sister, Margaret of Lafayette, LA. Frank leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grands and more nieces, nephews and extended family that could be counted. The family has set services for Monday, June 29, 2020 at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the chapel service begins at noon. Afterward, Frank will be laid to rest at Pearlington Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Darby family in their time of need. We do ask everyone to keep them lifted up in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
