Frank Ross, Sr. Obituary

Frank George Ross, Sr., 83 of Lumberton, passed away at his residence Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. He was the second of three children to John and Ethelyn (Senseny) Ross, born on November 25, 1937, in Biloxi, Ms. Raised by his father and step-mother, Lucille (Nelson) Ross, Frank lost his mother, Ethelyn, when he was just six weeks old, leaving Lucille to fill a very special roll for Frank. Joe and Lucille would bless Frank with three more siblings making him one of six. He was born and raised in Biloxi, Ms., where Frank enjoyed fishing and being on the water, which he spent ALOT of time doing.  Frank enjoyed sports and singing in the show choir for Biloxi High School.  After graduation, Frank joined the US Army, earning the rank of SGT.  Once Frank discharged from the Army, he retired back to Biloxi, MS and started his own commercial fishing career.  Having known Cheryl since childhood, he decided when she was only thirteen that he would marry her one day.  Frank waited for her to turn eighteen and fifty six years later they had a life and family they had built together.  Living in Dulac, LA for over twenty years where he worked in the shrimping business. Again retiring to Biloxi, MS from his fishing and shrimping business in 2000, he spent retirement devoted to his wife and family.  Frank was an awesome example to his kids and always left the door open for other kids in the neighborhood, (which there were a lot of)! He enjoyed gardening as well as talking and writing politics. Frank would keep notes throughout his fishing and shrimping career.  Eventually compiling it all together and writing a Loran book, listing all the obstacles he encountered over the years that would damage fishing nets. Thus being a gift he would give to his friends and colleagues. Preceding him in death are his parents John Joseph and Lucille (Nelson) Ross, his birth mother, Ethelyn (Sensenly) Ross, two of his brothers, John Joseph Ross, Jr. and Joseph Wayne Ross; one sister Bobbi Pasant; and one daughter Angie Trosclair.  Left to cherish Frank's memory are his loving wife Cheryl (Foreman) Ross of Lumberton, MS; his daughters Sherri (Shawn) Wise of Poplarville, MS. and Michelle Comeaux (Preston) Peterson of Biloxi, MS.; his sons Frank (Brandy) Ross, Jr. of Poplarville, Ms.; and Jeff (Jolisa) Ross of Houma, La.; his sisters Lucy (Bill) Carter of Alabama, and Maggie (Roland) Broussard of Ocean Springs, MS. Frank leaves a legacy of sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grans as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frank's wishes were to be cremated which his family is honoring.  A celebration of life will be held at Maritime and Seafood Museum in Biloxi on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from Noon until 2 PM for friends and extended family.
