Forrest Delapp, Jr. Obituary

Forrest Willard Delapp, Jr., 74 of McHenry, passed away early Friday morning, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1946 in Biloxi, MS, the second of four children to Forrest Willard and Evelyn Margaret (Duggan) Delapp. Christened as "Woody" at a young age, to go along with his given name of Forrest, he would grow up in towns and cities all over, as his father served in the US Air Force. He was always outgoing and jovial as a young man, the kind that loved to make you laugh. That trait stuck with him through the years, making him many friends along the way. Woody served in the US Army for a short time and afterward, started working as a mechanic. He had a knack for "flipping" cars and trucks, buying them, fixing anything that was wrong, making sure it ran smooth and selling them. Though he had been in several places over the years, Woody has been in McHenry for the past 30 years or so, enjoying his quasi-retirement for the last several. He was a regular fixture at the Chevron and McDaniels, as well as Parker's Scrap and was known by most everyone for his kind, jovial nature. He is remembered as a loving brother, father and trusted friend, though if he could pull a good prank on you, it was sure to happen! That simply indicated that you were someone he cared about. Woody was the type to help anyone, often referred to as "good as gold". He will no doubt be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Forrest W. and Evelyn M. Delapp, his sister Bridget and his brother Joel. Left to cherish his memories are: his children: Todd Delapp, Forrest Wilson, IV, Joy Miltenberger, Jesse Delapp and Sonja Carbine; and the oldest and remaining sister, Charlotte Lindsay, along with a host of extended family and friends scattered all over. Woody's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring, with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Delapp family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
