Eugene Lee Christopherson, 62 of Gulfport, passed away January 4th at the Boyington. He was born October 18,1959 in Garrison, North Dakota, the second of five children to Percy and Rozann J. (Inglehart) Christopherson. Eugene grew up in Saucier where he came to enjoy fishing, hunting and mechanicing on things. He killed lots of deer and played some football before graduating from Harrison Central with the Class of 1977. He joined the Sheet Metal Workers Local 11 and went to trade school, bending metal and building ducts for several years before a tragic automobile accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. That didn't slow Eugene down one bit. His drive and determination to make the most of any situation led him to bodybuilding and wheelchair racing, with him winning several competitions and races. Eugene also continued to hunt and was an excellent gunsmith as well. He is remembered as a very strong willed, determined man who never, ever gave up. When life gave him lemons, Eugene took them and made some pretty good lemonade. He had a jovial sense of humor and kept "the pot stirred" as they say, just for the fun of it. He loved his family and friends and was equally beloved by all of them, with those closest to him affectionately referring to him as "Uncle Boo". Eugene will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his father, Percy Christopherson, his mother Rozann Martin and his stepfather, Buddy Martin, along with his only son, Ryan Christopherson. Left to cherish his memories are: his siblings, brothers Blaine Christopherson and Lee Martin, both of McHenry, and sisters Stacie (Eugene) Lindsay of Gulfport and Sonya Martin of Saucier, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. They will hold a memorial service and celebration of his life at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Christopherson family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
