On Wednesday, March 17, at 1:10 pm, in New Orleans, Louisiana, E.J. (Slim) was welcomed home into the loving arms of his Savior, surrounded by his family. Born on January 13, 1948 in Dedeaux, MS to Elvin, Sr., and Mae Martin. E.J. lived his life in Harrison County, MS with the love of his life of 51 years Patricia who survives him. Left to carry on his memory are his sons, Craig (Mona) Martin and Garrick (Dori) Martin. Three grandchildren Sadie, Chase, and Savannah, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by a brother, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Elvin and Mae Martin, adored brother, sisters, a niece, and a nephew. E.J. had a dynamic personality and a way about him that made those he came in contact with feel special. He loved the Lord above all and cherished studying and living by the Bible. He loved to go to church. He tended to the church grounds at Wolf Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Clerk, Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and song leader for the majority of his adult life. He sang praises to the Lord, with a love of the old gospel hymns, accompanied on the piano by his youngest grandchild, Chase. He treasured time spend with family, eating buffets, collecting tools and coins, going to garage sales, traveling to the mountains, being outside, planting flowers, going to the gardens, and taking pictures. A leader and encourager, wise and talented, confident yet humble, and so proud to be a child of God were E.J. character. Blessed with an amazing personality and a heart for all people. E.J. hope and prayer was that all of his family and friends would commit to the saving knowledge of Christ so he could see them all again one day. A visitation will be held Monday March 22, 2021 at Wolf Creek Baptist Church starting 10 AM followed by a service at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Wolf Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Wolf Creek Baptist Church to the shoe box fund in his name. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to help the Martin family during this difficult time and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
