Elisha "Mitchell" Holder, 58 of Bendale, passed away at his home Saturday, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 3, 1963 in Lucedale, the second of three children to E. M. and Charlotte Ann (Walker) Holder. Mitchell grew in the Vestry community, spending most of his younger years with his grandparents, the late Elroy and Annie Bea Walker. He loved to fish, hunt and ride his bicycle. Living pretty close to Red Creek, Mitchell spent lots of time there fishing. He was a bit of a daredevil of sorts, willing to do just about anything and for goodness sake don't dare him. He was going to give it his best effort, no matter what. Mitchell dropped out of school in the eighth grade and went to work. He hauled paperwood and had his own truck for a while, worked at Owen Scrap Metal and eventually got his CDL and started driving. Mitchell hauled logs for the most part, spending many years with Hunt Logging. He is remembered as a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. Though Mitchell was never a burly individual, he was what most would refer to as a "wirey" fella, withouth much fear of anything. He loved a good laugh as much as anyone, but the daredevil part of him faded as he grew older, especially after his marriage in 1995. He loved his family and remained close to his mother and sisters, but when his granddaughter was born, she took the cake. Aniyah was his "Doodlebug" and the love of his life. Mitchell continued to enjoy fishing and did so as much as he possibly could. He will be forever remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his maternal grandparents, Elroy and Annie Bea Walker, and his uncle Rupert Walker. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of over 25 years, Genie and their daughter Colein, both of Bendale; his parents, father E.M. Holder of Vancleave and his mother Charlotte Ann (David) Warden of Lucedale; sisters Edith Warden of Lucedale, Cora Faye Kasselder of Ramsey Springs, Sharon Brooks of Bendale and Susan (Robert) Martin of Janice; and his aunt, Elfrida Walker of Vestry. Funeral services are set for Wednesday, January 12th at Riverside Full Gospel Church in Bendale. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Afterward Mitchell will be laid to rest in the Havard Cemetery near his home. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Holder family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them all in your thoughts and prayers over this trying time.
