Ms. Dorothy Elizabeth Simmons, 70 of Gulfport, passed away peacefully Friday morning at Darlene's Personal Care Home in Kiln. Dorothy, or "Dot" as she was affectionately known, was born February 23, 1949 in Kosciusko, MS, the daughter of Walter H. & Katie (Womble) Jenkins. Dot was an outgoing lady with a friendly, charming personality. She never met anyone who didn't become her friend, and remain so for life. She will be missed by so many, both in New York and here in South Mississippi. She was preceded by her parents, Walter & Katie Jenkins; her husband, Walter F. Simmons, Sr.; and her grandson, Brandon C. Simmons. Left to cherish her memories are: her son, Walter F. (Kristi) Simmons, Jr.; grandchildren: Patrick (Georgia) Watts, Dillon (Lacey) Simmons, Brittany, Madison, and Kailey Simmons, with great-grands Braelynn, Aiden, and Alayna Simmons and Jaxon Watts; her brother, Walter (Helen) Jenkins; brothers-in-law Raymond (Nancy), Roger (Barb), and Tim Simmons; sisters-in-law Colleen (Gordon) Spriggs, Tina Willard, and a multitude of nieces and nephews that she loved as much as her own. Last, but certainly not least, are her extended children & grandson, Sheena and Tyler Harris, and Michele Brenno; and her feline daughter "Lucy". Friends are encouraged to join the family to celebrate Dot's life on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM, at Life Church, 208 Pass Road in Gulfport, with Bro. Tom Mims officiating. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Simmons family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep the Simmons family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
