Donivan Winston Johnson, 79 of Wiggins, passed away November 18 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. He was born February 24, 1941 to Isaac Sr. and Laura Mae Johnson in Saucier, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Coy and Rex Johnson; sister, Lola May; sister in law, Ethel Johnson; brother in law, Doug Millhone and bonus daughter, Penny Dobbs McDonagh. Donivan leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Frances Kay Johnson; daughters and sons in law, Rev. Tammy and Shawn Turner of Jerusalem, Israel, Laura and Bryan Winters of Perkinston, MS; bonus son and daughter in law, Mike and Pam Dobbs of Wiggins, MS; sisters, Juanita Smith, Dona Lou Pack, Lily Grace Denning and Troy V. Dortch, brothers, Issac Willie Johnson Jr, Hilliard Johnson and Kent Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Donivan meet his bride, Frances, at church and it was love at first sight. They began their journey through life together and was never far from each other. They dedicated their lives to serving God and it showed in their family. Even from a young age, Donivan proved himself as a hard worked and dedicated to being the man God called him to be. He started out as a bus driver, served his country in the United States Army, retired from Ingalls as a pipefitter after 25 years, drove a bus again and worked at Trinity Yachts before finally taking it easy. Most of his family and friends will remember him as having a great sense of humor. Donivan was the King of Dad Jokes. While he was quiet spoken when he spoke people listened. He believed in giving an honest day’s work and installed in his children a sense of accomplishment with a job well done. Donivan will be forever remembered as a loving husband, beloved father and grandfather, US Army Veteran and a faithful member of Word Alive Revival Center. The family is thankful for the blessing of having him in their lives and the wonderful memories to hold in their hearts. A graveside service with military honors be held at 2 pm, Friday, November 20 at Bethel Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
