David George Obituary

David Byron George passed away on September 19, 2022 in Pass Christian, MS. He was born on October 19, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia to Tom George Sr. and Cecelia Orso George. At a very young age it was obvious David was destined to be part of the Sea. His love for the waters and the wooden ships that sailed on them was realized in those early days. His God-given blessings and talents went on to push his interest and pursuits in many other directions as well.  He was a self-made man that marched to a different drum than most.  It was the kind of drum I believe the Lord plays for the souls we see and embrace as the few truly special and unique people.  David’s pursuits would see him become an accomplished Engineer, Artist and Master Boat Builder of which anyone would’ve been hard pressed to find his equal. His reach was wide, noting just a few would be complete restorations from the ground up of classic cars embracing all mechanical considerations, to the finishing touch of a custom paint job. This same passion would also be seen in his building vintage Harleys. All this took place over the years only to slightly shadow his true passion and tremendous talents as a Master Carpenter Boat Builder. It was then on to more restorations of vintage machinery spanning from metal lathes, large timber ban saws, logger base table plainer and so on. He would put to use the various equipment he restored for his catering to that passion, the very equipment itself were actually fine pieces of Art in their own right.  This, as his other pursuits, would encompass all aspects of the Art. David’s attentions covered the entire range of Vessels to include Classic Chris-Craft, luxury yachts on through to the hard-working shrimp boat fleets.  There are very few on the coast that haven’t been privileged by his talent.   He was a tremendously hard working “old school” Jack of all pursued trades and master of most that lived life on his own terms.  David will be dearly, dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Tom George of Gulfport, Ms. and Cheryl George of Fredericksburg, VA. joined by the many dear friends who were touched by his life. He is preceded by his parents, Tom and Cecelia George. There will be a gathering for the celebration of life to honor our brother.  The date and time for this is still pending.David Byron George passed away September 19, 2022.
