Darnell Cuevas

Darnell Cuevas, 84, passed away on October 26, 2023 at Memorial in Gulfport, MS. Darnell was born on March 16, 1939 in Pass Christian, MS to parents Maybin, Sr. and Luzenia Cuevas. As a child he enjoyed being outside; playing in the woods was an everyday occurrence. Raising chickens, turkeys, goats, and involved with a lot of wildlife. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite hobby was garage saling. As a young man he worked outside as well, from the National Forestry service to nursery work he enjoyed it all. He also enjoyed relaxing on the porch next to his chickens, listening to music. He had a love for country music, mostly preferring the older styles of Hank William, Sr. Being a fan of old westerns, he was the type of man to never be seen without his cowboy hat. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Darnell is preceded by his parents Maybin, Sr. and Luzenia Cuevas; his daughter Mary Margaret; his sisters Bernice Dedeaux, Lucille Lizana, and Evon Mckay; brothers Floyd Cuevas, Maybin Cuevas Jr, and Phillman "Phill" Cuevas. Darnell is survived by his wife of 60 years Jearlene Cuevas; his children Dean Joseph Cuevas(Tammie), Regina Darlene Brown(David Sr); sisters Lavon Bryant, Marilyn Warren, Kathy Hudson; Grandchildren Miranda Jordan(Michael), David Brown Jr(Lauren), Cody Lizana, Hannah Miller(Chasity), Kennedy Cuevas Turan; Great-grandchildren Brendan Hoda, Alexia Hoda, Aiden Parrish, Breeley Parrish, Caybre Parrish, Daiden Miller, Kyler Brown, Karlee Brown, Dawsen Brown, Draysen Miller, Henley Kate, Laykin Shiyou, Mila Rose Brown, Colton Jordan, Mazie Jordan, and soon to come Magdalyn Jordan.
