Courtney Lynn (Parnell) McCall

Ms. Courtney Lynn McCall, 42 of Lumberton, passed away at her home Saturday morning surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born January 16, 1977 in Hattiesburg to Elmer "Pete" & Donna (Shoemaker) Parnell and grew up in Leakesville. Courtney was very artistic and enjoyed drawing from an early age. She could draw anything and became quite accomplished at it over the years. She also loved kids and children, with Halloween being her favorite holiday on the calendar. Even as an adult she was always playing with the kids, getting down in the floor, the dirt, or wherever they were playing, it didn't matter to her. A 1995 graduate of Greene County HS, Courtney attended Jones Junior College for a semester, and transferred to the University of New Orleans to continue her studies, until Hurricane Katrina came along. Courtney also enjoyed styling hair, which she did a lot of for many people. She was an entertainer, the center of attention and a person who lit up the room when she walked in. She is remembered as a "bubbly" and outgoing person that was "beautiful both inside and out". She leaves this life far too early, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Courtney was preceded by her maternal grandparents, Ed & Bernice Shoemaker; paternal grandmother Nina Parnell, and her aunt, Earlene McGeehee. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband Anthony Sumrall and her mother Donna Parnell (Victor Longo), both of Lumberton; her father Pete (Kay) Parnell of Leakesville; a sister Regina Carr, and a brother James Reynolds; godchildren Isabella Carr and Kylee Means, with several extended family and friends. Courtney's final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton (890 E. Main Ave) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the McCall family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
