Corbin Tittle, Jr. Obituary

Corbin P. Tittle, Jr., fondly known by all as Corky, left us to be with the Lord on September 21, 2021. He lived a very adventurous 80 years, and happily called Wiggins, MS home for the past several years. He passed peacefully in the home he loved and vowed to spend his final days. Corky was born in Chattanooga, TN to Corbin P. Tittle, Sr and Margaret Long Tittle. He was a Vietnam Era Army Veteran tank crewman who pursued a career in music after his Army commitment. A talented drummer, Corky began his music career with a band known as “3 Hits and a Miss” performing in the Florida Keys. There he was discovered by Country Music star Roy Clark and encouraged to move to Nashville, TN where he would play with many well-known stars of the 60’s country music world. He was regularly seen on television performing on the “Grand Ole Opry”, “Hee Haw”, and on Jim Ed Brown’s “Country Place” and even played with Elvis Presley in the production of two of his movies. After leaving the rigors of being a musician on the road, Corky moved back to the Florida Keys where he pursued another passion and became a Charter Fishing Boat Captain for many years, still playing music when he wasn’t fishing. Corky continued to play his drums in his final years in southern Mississippi, up until a short time before is passing. He was also very fond of motorcycling and traveling the country on two wheels with many of his friends. He was always known for his great smile and sense of humor. At 80 he was still a fireball, seriously considering buying just one more motorcycle and traveling. He loved the Lord, was strong in his faith and continually said how thankful he was for the life he has lived. He lived and died naturally on his terms with a content heart.

Corky was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother James D. “Jimmy” Tittle. He is survived by his three children, Shawn Tittle, Sr of Florida, Jason Tittle of Maine, and Kelli Scharton of California as well as his 10 grandchildren, his younger brother Bryan Tittle of Florida, and close first cousins Bob, Gary, and Mike Tittle of Georgia, along with a network of extended family and friends. Individual celebrations of life will be held with family and friends in the near future and his ashes returned to the earth in his beloved waters of the Florida Keys.
