Christopher Lewis Obituary

Christopher David Lewis, 30 of Lumberton, passed away January 31, 2024 in a traffic accident on 11 outside Lumberton. Christopher was born January 18, 1994 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, the son of Nicholas Shane Dickinson and Rena Rouchon. He grew up with his grandfather, Rube Dickinson and followed him step for step coming up, so much so that most everyone called him "Little Rube". Chris literally did everything his grandfather did, including working in the watermelon fields. He never met a stranger, and like Rube, Chris could talk to anybody. He enjoyed baseball and was part of the Lumberton baseball family, graduating with the Panther Class of 2012. Chris thought about college, attending one semester at pearl River and decided to go to work. He eventually landed a job on the tug boats, moving freight up and down the Mississippi River. Though he hadn't married yet, Chris loved his kids. When he met Alexis, she changed his life and they were engaged to be married. He was a strict daddy for the girls, but of course they had him wrapped around their fingers. Chris' life was based on all that he learned from his grandparents. He was a dedicated father that worked hard to provide for and take care of his family. Not one to venture out very much, Chris preferred to be at home around a bonfire, or standing behind his grill cooking for family and friends. Though he leaves us all far too soon, his memories will live on in the hearts and minds of all whose life he touched. Chris was preceded by his mentor and grandfather, Rube Dickinson, and his uncle, Randy Hendrix. Left to cherish his memories are: his fiance' Alexis Lee; thier children: Tiercie Lewis, Carsyn Lewis, Malachi Lee, Jane Martinez, Zane Earl, and Savanna Earl; his loving parents, mother Rena Rouchon of Gardner, KS, and his father Shane "Shuck" (Kimberly) Dickinson of Lumberton; his grandmother Glenda Dickinson, also of Lumberton; brothers and sisters Tracy Dickinson, Chloe Rouchon, Shep Gibson, Gabrielle Robinette, Dustin Robinette, and Emileigh (Mike) Williams; maternal grandparents Barbara Tamburo and Yngve Dahl, with his uncle, Russell Campillo; and his niece Paisleigh Rouchon, along with many extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Friends and family will be received for visitation from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. Afterward, friends are invited to join family for a celebration of Chris' life by gathering around the grill at his home. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Lewis family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
