Christopher Costilow Obituary

Christopher Shawn Costilow was born July 26, 1972, and was called home on November 25, 2022 in Hattiesburg, MS. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary (Kathy) Burkhalter and father, James (David) Costilow. Chris is survived by step parents, Ron Burkhalter of Purvis, MS and Suzanne Costilow of Murfreesboro, TN; a wife, Billie Costilow, two daughters, Courtney Costilow and Ciara Costilow, and one son, Lane Costilow, all of Fort Worth, TX; five sisters: Jennifer (Scott) Mohundro of Blue Springs, MS, Amber (T.J.) Henderson of Purvis, MS, Nikki (Vincent) Smith of Purvis, MS, Stephanie (Andy) Seale of Arvada, CO, and Carissa (Gregg) Patterson of New Market, MD. Chris was a veteran of the United States Military, serving for 16 years which included 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corp, and 12 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. During his military time, Chris served three tours on active duty. He was known as "Cowboy" by many, since he had a love for rodeo and lived out his passion for riding bulls. He always had a tale to tell of his rodeo days, including one where he says he was denied access to riding one night due to having a cast on a broken hand, which disqualified him. "That didn't stop me from riding! I soaked that cast in water, cut it off with my knife, and rode that bull that night with a broken hand". Cowboy was as hard headed as they come but his stubbornness was matched with a heart of gold. He had a great love for Jesus, his country, and his children. He was an outlaw, a cowboy, a veteran, a Christian and last but not least, a Mama's Boy, which he was proud to admit. Cowboy was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew him. He will be riding his 8 seconds on those golden streets until Jesus and his Mama get after him with a switch and tell him he is making a mess. Until we see you again, Cowboy. The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
