Charles Moree Obituary

Charles Keith Moree, 59 of Columbia, passed away September 24, 2021 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Born July 8, 1962 in Columbia, he was one of two children to Charles Henry and Caroline Jean (Robbins) Moree. Keith grew up a South Mississippi country boy in and around Columbia, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also liked to work with wood and build things. He began to complain about not wanting to go to school at a young age. His father told him that if (or when) he were to quit, he had to go to work. When Keith had all he could stand, he quit school and did just that. He worked at a few places, including Can-Tek, Orleans Furniture and Tilly's Construction, where he was able to learn how to operate heavy equipment. That was all Keith would need to get him through life. For the past several years, he has worked for Entact Environmental Services as a field project manager, travelling the country doing soil remediation work. While it might sound sophisticated and highly technical, in reality, Keith just went all over the place with his crew digging holes. And yes, he loved every single minute of it. He is fondly remembered as a jovial, gregarious guy. There was no such thing as a stranger to him, always taking to anyone he encountered. He loved to laugh, and at times, it would be at your expense if you weren't careful. Keith was always looking for a good prank to pull and he accomplished it quite often. He was a loving, generous and giving man that enjoyed woodworking. He had a few hobbies now, including classic car restoration with his father's 1964 Chevrolet C-10, raising chickens, specifically ISO Reds #12, and he enjoyed making a little shine to boot. Keith loved trying new recipes as often as possible. He did well for himself in life for a guy with only an 8th grade education, which just goes to show that anything truly is possible, "you just gotta want it", as he often reminded you. His laughter and generosity will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. Keith was preceded by his parents, Charles and Carolyn Moree; his late wife Barbara and their son, Bo; his grandmother Sarah Robbins and his uncle, Sherman Robbins. Left to cherish the many fond memories are: his side-kick and companion for the past nine years, Donna Holcomb; his children, one daughter Rachelle (John)  Cox and sons Shane (Kim) Moree, Mitchell Moree, with his step-son, Thomas (Carissa) Joplin; daughter-in-law Samantha Moree and his sister, Melanie Moree. Keith leaves a legacy of eleven grandchildren: Saianne, Cryiah, Alexander and Sariah Joplin, Raylan Moree, Sheila, Gabe, John and Joan Cox, with Alexia and MaKaylee Moree, plus a great-granddaughter, Ambreah Page, as well as numerous extended family and friends across the country, including his large, close-knit family at Entact. Services are set for Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:30.
