Charles Junior Cuevas, 73, danced his way into Heaven on August 10, 2020. He was born on June 23, 1947 to Levance and Wilma (Ladner) Cuevas. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 37 years, Leona (Ladner) Cuevas; sisters, Willie Mae Necaise and Glenda Ladner. He is survived by his loving family; his children, Richard Cuevas, Lana Cuevas, Shelly and her husband, Leroy Lee and Stacey Szepek; grandchildren, Damian, Shantel, Jordan, Tabitha and Timothy Charles; great grands, Paislee and Preslee; sisters and brothers in law, Diane and Eddie Cwiklik, Judy and Bobby Cuevas and Teddy Necaise; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Charles worked as a mechanic and bus driver for over 25 years with the Hancock County School System. He loved joking around and was never afraid of having a laugh at his own expense. Charles was the type of man everyone loved and wanted to be friends with. He had a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important—the simplicity of living a life with those you love. Charles took extreme pride in being a devoted and dedicated husband, father and Papa. He enjoyed mulleting, hunting and dancing. He could be found most Saturday nights on the dance floor of the VFW in Kiln and when he wasn’t dancing, he was singing. Charles may be gone but he will always be remembered and loved by all who knew him. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 13 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in the Necaise Crossing Community from 1 pm to 3 pm with Catholic Mass at 3 pm. Burial to following at Rotten Bayou Cemetery. After interment, family and friends are invited back to Shelly and Lee’s house. Bring a covered dish and share happy memories of the life Charles. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Charles and asks that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
